Whew. Just got back from the winter WUSS swill ride, which I'll post about tomorrow. Eight riders showed up to brave the icey trails and mid-30s temps for a chance to spin the pedals and sup some ale (and slam a little Jägermeister) in good company. Right now, though, it's time to relax and warm up a bit.
Pictured at left is Rogue's Santa's Private Reserve Ale. With its caramel overtones and lupulin trailer—a bit like a hopped-up Dead Guy Ale, as my girl so aptly put it—I can see why the fat dude in the red suit wants to keep it all to himself. Let's hope he doesn't throw down too many of these on Xmas Eve or the following morning the hills and valleys will quake with the cacophonous wailing of millions of whining children.
Oh, and Stone's Double Bastard is out now, too. A pleasant, paradoxical melding of sweet and bitter flavors with a belly-warming 10% abv. 100 blissful IBUs, baby. Haughtiness and—Santa's omniscience notwithstanding — naughtiness, together at last in one bottle! Just right for sharing. Grab it if you can find it.
