Cycle Somatic...

Pictured at left is Rachel, a waitress at The Brickskeller, who was kind enough to step outside in the freezing cold right after the latest beer tasting event last Tuesday—more about which later—to pose next to her sweet fixed gear Soma.

Couple of cycling things on the horizon: (Re)scheduled for Tuesday is a little bridge work trail maintenance on the CCT. Then, on Saturday, another WUSS event has the usual miscreants pedaling westward on the W&OD Trail in search of the holy ales at such ethereal alcoholic oases as the Old Dominion Brewing Company and Thoroughbreds Grill and Brewing, among others. Gonna be brisk, and probably a bit on the icy side in spots...nothing a little preemptive strike of liquid analgesics can't buffer. Yee-haw!

Lastly, got a taste or two yesterday of Clay Pipe's winter warmer, aptly titled Pursuit of Happiness. Unlike most holiday offerings, this one has a good dose of hops—not aggressive, but with a powerful enough lupulin presence to please most hopheads—along with a nice counterbalance of malt that leaves your limbic system smiling. Pretty high ABV content, too, hence the "warmer" descriptor. If you find it on tap somewhere, make yourself happy.

I owe someone a beer. This past August, when I was suffering at the sswc05 due to a slow leak in my front tire- after a tube change, a guy in a "WUSS" jersey threw me a pump and told me to keep it if I couldn't find him after the race. I never would have been able to finish otherwise- thanks!

Rob, yeah, I remember hearing that story from the donor himself right after I finished the Worlds...just can't remember who it was!

No beer necessary, man, just pass on the good karma...
