Even If It's Not the End of the World...

...you can still drink like it is! La Fin Du Monde: Canadian brewer Unibroue's very satisfying, triple-fermented golden ale in the Trappist tradition. Refreshing, but with an alcoholic wallop (9% abv) you wouldn't expect (Armageddon label theme notwitstanding), the body of this fine offering falls somewhere between Unibroue's Maudite (on the light end) and Trois Pistoles (on the robust end). I don't know what it is about this brewery's beers, but I really like everything from them that I've tried so far. Good stuff!

And from the If You Can't Drink 'Em, Wear 'Em Department comes the sweet little piece of birthday largesse pictured at right, bestowed upon me recently by my girl. Yep, 100% Merino Wool. Three rear pockets. Cut a little loose, so you can always slip in a layer underneath it for those really chilly rides. Can't beat the price, and the material is surprisingly thick. And, unlike a certain bike-themed amber ale that's unavailable on the East Coast, this thing can't be overrated.

DT models the jersey below at this year's (local) Single Speed Punk Bike Enduro, more about which soon. In the meantime, check here, here, and here for the takes of other riders in the event.

Total Wine carries the whole line, including Terrible.

Norm's Beer and Wine in Vienna might have it; not sure. Whole Foods doesn't, as far as I know.

And of course, if you're being social, Pizzeria Paradiso in Georgetown always has several of the Unibroue styles in bottles, and frequently features Maudite on tap.
