Polar Plunge Plea...

This Saturday, January 10, I've agreed to dip my bully bag into the icy waters of the Chesapeake Bay to help raise money to combat global warming by way of a little thing called the Polar Bear Plunge. That's right, I signed a contract in my own caffiene-thinned, alcohol-infused, hemoglobin-starved blood to offer up my aging bag of bones and all its delicate bits to the harsh, indifferent winter elements, just to make a handful of salmon-snatching polar bears happy.

Okay, it isn't all about the bears. There's also the 1.5 million species that currently call this planet home, nearly all of whom lack the necessary physiological mechanisms to make their opinion known explicitly (hell, most of them lack a backbone, and I don't mean that metaphorically).

So, for me, it's Lorax time, so to speak. All of this to say that if you're feeling a little generous, or if you simply need to atone for a little evil you've indulged in lately or plan to undertake soon, here's your opportunity to help make a difference at my physical expense. Simply click this link and follow the simple instructions.

I'm asking for a minimum contribution of $15, a little more than the cost of a sixer of good beer. But hey, I'm easy, so I appreciate any amount...which is an indirect way of saying more is always better.

All contributors will receive a personalized email of appreciation from yours truly. Thanks in advance for your help!

[Oh, and for you slackers who need additional incentive to dig out the plastic, everyone who contributes will receive a special, laminated, as-yet-uncreated-but-fully-conceived spokecard that's sure to be a classic. Yes, you're going to love it. And no, it's not the Obama Chocolate Stout item (I said "as-yet-uncreated", didn't I?)—that was Butch's doing.]

So, what does the pic above have to do with this post? Not a damn thing...it's my blog, let me play! That said, rumor has it that a certain semi-pro photog will make an appearance on Saturday to capture all the beautiful agony.

SMB folks, thanks for the props...BTW, I'm pretty sure the pounds-to-dollars conversion thing wouldn't be a problem if you'd like to help me out...just sayin'.

So ...how'd it go? Oh, and is it too late to give you a donation?
